About Fordhall Farm Yurts

Spend a magical glamping holiday in our Shropshire-made yurts, privately situated on our 140 acre organic farm in North Shropshire’s Tern Valley.

We not only offer a landscape filled with wildlife and adventure, but as England’s first community owned farm, we have regular events and activities that can entertain the whole family (see website).

Our two interconnected yurts are perfect for a romantic hideaway or a family adventure. Complete with beds for up to 6 people (one double, bunk beds and a futon), wood burner, gas BBQ, bed linen and even a kitchen sink.

You have a private compost toilet onsite with access available to flushing toilets and indoor shower in our main building a few minutes walk away.

At the right time of year there is also an edible garden including marigolds, mint, gooseberries and damsons.

There is a small gas cool box to keep things fresh alongside the large gas BBQ with side burner, but no running water and nowhere to plug in your hair straighteners or toothbrush - this is a total 'off grid' experience!

Our yurts are insulated with sheep’s wool, have cotton sheets on the beds and decking to sit out and admire the views along the Tern Valley.

The farm is a child’s playground, they can see our pigs situated beside a small play area (Old tractor 'Betty' and the mud kitchen are the firm favourites!)

All ages can enjoy our free farm trails with plenty of fun elements for the kids to explore and bountiful wildlife for nature lovers.

Our yurts enable you to enjoy and feel part of nature with that little bit of extra comfort. Why not bring your telescope with you and watch the stars, or hire one of our bat detectors to listen to the calls as the bats fly overhead at night.

To add to the experience you have the farm shop for essentials featuring the best of Fordhall meat and local organic produce and Arthur’s Farm Kitchen for a delicious a cooked breakfast, Sunday roast, light lunch or just a freshly brewed coffee.

Arthur’s Farm Kitchen and Fordhall Farm Shop Opening Times: Tuesday-Saturday 9.30am-5pm Sundays & Bank Holidays 10am-4pm Mondays CLOSED The Farm Shop sells a variety of produce: Milk, butter and bread, seasonal vegetables, cheeses, drinks, jams, chutneys, drinks, sweets, biscuits, cakes, ice cream, pies, cooked meats, butchery counter, beer, cider, wines. Arthur’s Farm Kitchen serves cooked breakfasts, hot lunches, Sunday Roasts, light bites, cakes and drinks.

It would only be glamping with a fully equipped kitchen including: Pots and pans,Cutlery including sharp knives,Crockery, Gas barbecue and hob situated just outside the yurts under cover. Indoor sink with large water container Water – there is no running water at the yurts but there is a large water container. Small containers are there for you to top it up as and when it’s needed (5 minute walk). Kettle that can be used either on the wood burner or gas stove. Gas powered cooler box outside.

Fordhall has been farmed organically since the 1940s. Our yurts are insulated with sheep's wool sewn together with hundreds of donated buttons. The café & farm shop building is built using hemp, lime, newspaper, clay paints, wool & recycled materials. In 2018 we are underway building a new Straw Bale bunkhouse to support our community work / educational visits.

We run seasonal events on the farm and short courses throughout the year, see fordhallfarm.com to find out what is happening! We can also run birthday parties for any age including activities such as greenwood working, outdoor pizza making or forest fun. If you are looking for a larger family celebration we have a beautiful 1st floor function room for private dining, functions and events.

Notes about prices

Guide prices are per yurt for up to 6 people, discounts may be available for couples only at quieter times. Minimum length of stay restrictions may apply at peak periods.

Cancellation policy

Cancellations must be made 3 months or more before the planned arrival date in order to qualify for a full refund minus a £30 administration fee. Cancellations made between 2 and 3 months before the planned arrival date qualify for a 50% refund, minus a £30 admin fee. No refunds for cancellations made less than 2 months prior to arrival.
