About Ruberslaw Wild Woods Camping
Escape the working week & embrace the gentle pace of lowland living in one of our 4 Woodland Safari Tents. Relax in nature, under canvas, with beautiful views, sunsets from your own woodland clearing.
Isolated on the slopes of Ruberslaw by hundreds of metres of woodland, our Woodland Safari Tents will give you all of this. Tucked away into their own woodland clearing like a Border Reiver’s hideout, the tents offer wild seclusion and simple but stylish cosy comfort inside. Unlike any other site our glamping is truly in the wild with no other tents in sight.
From the moment you book your stay in one of woodland escapes, you can look forward to being taken care of while you unwind at Ruberslaw Wild Woods. All you need to bring with you is your personal luggage, towels, food and drink to enjoy during your off-grid stay.
On arrival we provide you with a map of your walking route to your chosen tent then you can stretch your legs, walking empty handed while we transport all of your luggage to the tent. One of us will meet you at your tent to show you around, how to light the gas stoves and paraffin lights and answer any questions you may have.
Internally the tents are divided by wooden wall partitions into a double bedroom with king-sized bed, a bunk bedroom and a living/dining/kitchen room.Beds are freshly made up with snug bed linen and extra blankets are provided for cooler nights.
The décor of each tent brings in the outside with use of natural warm fabrics and colours appropriate to each location.
The tents have a wide front verandah where you can sit quietly enjoying the peace and quiet of the woods.
To the front of the tent is a fire bowl and logs are supplied daily as part of your package, you can cook on the grid provided with the fire bowl and then sit around the open camp fire in the evening until the stars come out in the dark country sky. (You will be asked to follow the rules for Fire Safety to ensure that no accidents happen and that we can continue to allow open fires.)
Service facilities are located outside the tent, in a bespoke Thunderbox pine hut. The thunderbox houses a composting loo and a sink supplied with fresh water daily
