“A hotel suite in a field” is how one of our first guests described us, and that is what we are very proud of achieving here at In the Stix. This is glamping but not as you’ve previously known it.

Set in the beautiful, but little known county of Rutland, like the county there's a lot to discover here. Made up of 4 geodesic domes, In The Stix provides accommodation for up to 24 people.

Our carefully positioned domes allow guests enough privacy if booking a single dome but also work very well when taken over by a large party or group booking.

The domes each sleep 6 and provide our guests with 2 bedrooms, a downstairs master bedroom for 2 and upstairs mezzanine level able to sleep 4.

This is a very versatile space allowing for different bed configurations according to our visitors' requirements. The living area is within the dome; a large Chesterfield leather sofa and armchairs are all set up to look out onto the beautiful view across our little valley, while you relax in front of your log burner.

For those warmer summer nights we have also appointed each dome with their own personal log fired hot tub.

If you are part of a larger group there is a very large communal fire pit for all those wanting to gather and socialise. Situated away from the domes, it is a lovely space to gather on an evening when little people are sleeping or you want to make a bit more noise! Star gazing from either the hot tub or the fire pit is unmissable on a clear night.

Each dome boasts it’s own kitchen, fully equipped and supplying everything you could possibly need for your stay. All your essentials are included in the cost, making your stay an easy one to pack for.

A wood fired pizza oven is situated outside each kitchen, upholding the camping experience of outdoor cooking.

We have a little shepherds hut, which serves as our reception area and is also a little honesty shop. We stock all your basics enabling you to make a quick meal on arrival, or buy a pint of milk, an ice cream or bag of ice in hot weather. You can also purchase extra logs required in addition to the generous amount supplied on your arrival. The children are kept busy on our large play structure, with slides, swings and a play house. We also have goals set up for essential games of football.

We boast your own personal log fired hot tub per dome. We also have given our guests their very own field kitchen, which is fully equipped with everything they should need to prepare a wonderful outdoor feast. Each kitchen has a gas hob and a log fired pizza oven. We have a very large fire pit area which is lovely for large groups to socialise and for people to gather and interact with friends old and new.

We run the domes on solar power for the lighting and heating is all through the log burners. We wanted our guest to be able to have a full digital detox. The waste is flushed to a septic tank which leads to a reed bed. All our toiletries are supplied by us and are all organic natural products so as not to harm the reeds.

We are lucky enough to back on to a golf course and a large county park. Golf is available to our guests at a discounted rate. Exton park is beautiful to walk or cycle around and there are no roads to cross to access it, so very child and dog friendly. Rutland water is only a 10 minute drive from us and hosts numerous activities, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, open water swimming and fishing but to name a few. The main summer attraction is a huge inflatable water park, popular with all ages.

Notes about prices

Our prices above are based on 4 people in a dome for your stay, the domes can sleep up to 6 people and a cot. Please do contact us for prices for larger groups.

Cancellation policy

We do understand that plans change, so if you need to cancel your booking within six weeks of the agreed arrival date, we will endeavour to re-let your dome and will charge a £50 administration fee. If we are unable to do so within seven days, then we regret that we will be unable to refund the full amount of the booking.
