About Haystacks Country Retreats

Two beautiful home from home Shepherds Huts set in a sunny spot with stunning tranquil views sited on the old Nidd Valley railway line with views of the River Nidd backing onto private woodland.

Made locally our Shepherds Huts are 18 feet long and contain a double bed, kitchen area (electric hob, fridge & small Belfast sink), seating and a bathroom with shower & flushing toilet.

There is an oak table and bench seats for comfy reading, playing board games, listening to music or gazing out across the fields, as well as a fold down wall bed which can be lifted to reveal the table and seating area.

The bed will be fully made up with soft bed linen and cosy blankets so you don't have to make the bed each day.

Inside the hut there is an electric radiator, heated towel rail and wood burning stove with a supply of wood for you to light.

We also provide blankets, robes and a hot water bottle so you will be cosy and warm on rainy days and cold evenings.

Outside there is a wood fired Hikki bath tub tucked away for your exclusive use as well as a decked area with table and chairs - the perfect way to relax with a drink of your choice and enjoy the views whatever the weather.

All your essentials such as towels (indoor & outdoor), robes, slippers, hairdryer, shaving point, USB ports, crockery, glasses and utensils are provided as well as board games, binoculars, books, walking map, smart speaker, torch, outdoor muddy paws and boot wash, outdoor storage for muddy boots and coats.

Our price includes a Welcome Hamper filled with Yorkshire goodies, locally sourced breakfast ingredients for your first morning as well as logs for the wood burner and wood fired outdoor bath tub.

One small-medium sized dog considered, please contact us to discuss prior to booking.

We have space for parking a short walk away and provide wheelbarrows for you to transfer luggage from your vehicle to hut.

We will consider allowing a small-medium sized dog to join you, providing he/she has good manners and knows how to behave in the countryside. Please discuss with us before making your booking.

Private wood fired Hikki outdoor bath tub for each hut to enjoy exclusively. Fishing rights to approximately 1 mile of land running along River Nidd onsite. Say hello to our friendly Highland Cattle and Alpacas who live onsite.

We have tried to think of everything you will need in the Shepherds Hut during your stay. Please prepare yourself for the great British weather by ensuring you bring suitable footwear and clothing - it can get very muddy in the countryside. Your Welcome Hamper and first morning breakfast ingredients will include goodies to keep you going, we have a well stocked village store and local pub both within walking distance however you may wish to bring some of your own treats and favourite tipple.

Nidderdale is surrounded by beautiful open countryside with popular walks ranging from a short village loop known as The Packhorse Bridge walk (starting or ending at The Station Hotel) to a whole days hiking and anything in between.​ There are endless activities surrounding us from Nidderdale Llamas, How Stean Gorge to Gin Experiences. ​Bring your mountain bike to explore the local area or bring your fishing tackle and benefit from Haystacks fishing rights on approx 1 mile stretch of River Nid

Cancellation policy

Cancellation within 6 weeks of check in date will result in your deposit (and any other balance paid) being forfeited. Cancellation more than 6 weeks’ prior to check in, your deposit will be refunded within 30 days’ of the cancellation date via the same channel as the original payment, or as agreed otherwise.
