About Get Away Hide Away

Entirely off-grid seculded site, entwined within the surrounding nature in rural Norfolk. Built using local knowledge, materials, skills, artists and technology. Two restored vintage horse lorries.

Get Away Hide Away is tucked away within the Norfolk countryside within the Wensum valley in the small hamlet of Elsing. The site itself is two acres of wild flower meadow which are home to two vintage, restored and converted horse lorries. The meadow plays host to a wide variety of wildlife. From Badgers to Butterflies the site is teaming with nature.

The pressure and heat from our off-grid showers is often complimented and many have said our well-maintained compost loo’s have changed their minds.

We take great pride in offering some of the most secluded, private, relaxed and welcoming glamping options the region has to offer.

Both local artists and craftsmen have joined us to collaborate on creating two unique, comfortable, eco-friendly environments to relax in. Each lorry whilst different to one another both come with

At the far end of the meadow, is restored & converted 1967 bedford tk “Douglas”. Super king-sized bed up top, below is a tucked away single. The sofa bench central to the south facing French doors which lead out to the deck, perfect for al fresco dining. Douglas has been enjoyed by both families and couples alike however we feel there is a real romance to this lorry.

Tucked away half way down the meadow you will find “Dixie” she’s full of character & surprises hidden on her many levels. The steps lead up to the large bottom deck which is perfect for sharing a meal with others Another climb of steps takes you up to the top floor decking area. Towering four meters, above the surrounding landscape this deck is the perfect viewing platform to observe the site wildlife.

Each lorry has its own private well maintained compost loo. Warm good pressured comfortable shower room with hot and cold running water. Both lorries also have their own fire pits with BBQ. shared off road carpark.

We pride outselves on our carbon footprint, our whole project has been about restoration and reusing matterials where possible. We harvest rainwater, sunlight, human waste all to be used for energy.

You really don't need to bring a lot both units come with Tea / Coffee / Hot Chocolate / Sugar / Salt / Pepper. Fully equipment kitchen inc washing up liquid / tea towels. Bedding towels and complimentary locally made soaps.

Notes about prices

We are already being told by fellow glamping site owners that we are too cheap. However as we are in our first year being open with two lorries and we really want to accessible to all especially in the current times. We have decided to keep our prices low for 2022. We even have a few voucher codes coming up on offer this year, post on our instagram

Cancellation policy

Please if you need to cancel your holiday lets us know as soon as possible. If we have 7 days might be able to readvertise the space as we feel this is a reasonable amount of time for both parties.
