Description of Nut Plat Retreat

The Nut Plat Retreat is a holiday home from home for those who relish the idea of glamping in the Great British Countryside.

Set in the beautiful Kent countryside 45 minutes from London, the accommodation is in one of two living vans dating from the 1900’s kitted out to satisfy all your needs for a relaxing weekend, or longer, glamping break.

Each living van sits in its own totally private space with a kitchen and shower room, fire pit and compost loo.

We’ve tried to supply you with everything we think you’ll need for a peaceful rural retreat.

Each living van has a full size double bed with feather pillows and duvets, a fold down table and chairs and games and a pack of cards to keep you entertained in the evening.

Towels and even shower gel is in your bathroom and the kitchen is stocked with tea, coffee, sugar, oil etc and porridge oats and a good selection of pots.

Kent is known as the Garden of England for good reason and The Nut Plat in Roughway is a historic ‘orchard’ of ancient cob nut trees.

Running alongside the River Bourne in the Garden of England, the Nut Plat is on the edge of the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We think the hamlet of Roughway is unique – less than an hour from the centre of London and yet you can hardly hear a car let alone a train and you rarely ever hear an aeroplane (unless it’s using the open sky for acrobatics).

Our own lambs help keep the grass down by grazing the plat and we keep chickens here too.

We also have horses and cattle on our land on the other side of Roughway Lane which visitors are welcome to say ‘hello’ to.

Free collection and return to mainline station when possible.
