About Higher Culloden Farm

Nestled between the North Cornwall coast and Bodmin Moor, Higher Culloden Farm has 5 camping pods for back-to-nature short breaks. The perfect getaway for campers who want more comfort & convenience!

Higher Culloden Farm is the perfect place to come whether you want to unwind on the farm or use as a handy base for Cornish adventures.

There are five glamping pods, each with their own private bathroom in the same field, and with shared kitchenettes. Each pod sleeps up to a family of four comfortably with a double bed and two small single beds with bumpers, plus a travel cot available to hire. During the day, the double bed converts neatly into a family dining table and seating. The two singles also become benches to sit on. With a large decking area in front of the pod as well, consider it an upgrade from a traditional camping holiday in Cornwall.

Come help us with the animals and find out all about them. We love our guests helping with feeding them each morning on the daily rounds. We have chickens, ducks, rabbits and pigs. Plus, each afternoon we collect eggs which can be purchased on site and they taste wonderful cooked fresh.

We have some big projects in the pipeline for 2020-21 which include tree planting, new veg beds and some woodwork projects so an extra pairs of (grown up) hands are always welcome too.

Looking to just relax? Why not take a picnic down to our private stream which is hidden away in a secluded spot away from it all? Or explore our 15 acres at your leisure. We have a loop walk you can enjoy and you might catch a glimpse of a deer or kingfisher. Head across the stream and visit ‘Cow Island’ for a more rugged, but equally beautiful picnic spot. Stargaze from the campfire field with marshmallows – we're within Bodmin Dark Skies Reserve.

Walk straight into town, and the pub, in less than five minutes. The campers' barn also has some welcome shelter if the weather is unkind – a place to sit and eat, or sofas to relax in front of the gas fire on colder nights.

Pre-schoolers are well catered for with a play area, sandpit and lots of animals to see.

Groups are welcome: it's a great place to celebrate gatherings.

Enjoy a campfire in the campfire field. There is plenty of parking available on site next to the pod field and camping facilities block. We sell some essentials and extras which can be bought on site or booked for your arrival. There's a wet weather barn where you can sit and eat under cover The kitchenettes have a fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle for your use. Charging lockers are available to hire for your devices. We like to think we offer something quite unique here at Higher Culloden Farm with the camping facilities. Each pod has their own private shower room and toilet – no more walking across a field with towels, toothbrushes or toilet paper. Simply leave what you need in your bathroom for your entire holiday. There are also two shared kitchens in the same camping facilities block. All this just a short walk away from your glamping pod and the block stays lit throughout the night.

The pods don’t have their own electricity supply, as we are trying to encourage our guests to log-off and unwind on the farm. There is no heating inside the pods for health and safety reasons. However the pods have a double layer of insulation that keeps them warm in winter and cool in the summer. Guests regularly comment about how warm and cosy the pods are overnight, even when temperatures drop low outside.

We would suggest considering bringing most things you would need for your usual camping holiday – without the tent and airbeds! We do offer some extras that can be arranged for your arrival. About a week before check in you will be sent a link to our digital guestbook which has all the information you could possibly need to make the most of your stay with us. There's suggestions of what to do on days out, where to eat, what to bring, what you can prebook & what you can get up to on site.

Just 5 mins walk into Camelford which has a great pub and shops including a butcher, grocer and takeaways. A public footpath from the farm takes you all the way to Bodmin Moor and Roughter. A short drive away are some of north Cornwall's best beaches, magical Tintagel Castle and lots more to explore. Large open barn with seating and tables, board games and a freezer for ice packs. It’s somewhere for families or groups to gather, have a meal, or play games.

Cancellation policy

If a booking is cancelled less than 7 days before arrival then a charge equal to the full booking amount will be made. If a booking is cancelled less than 30 days before arrival then a charge equal to 20% of the stay will be made. In the event of a no show or booking reduction (after arrival date) the full cost of the booking is charged.
