About Real Glamping at the Fir Hill
Off-grid luxury glamping site overlooking the spectacular Porth Valley in Cornwall.
“An environmentally sustainable luxury glampsite"
From the onset of the Fir Hill Estate's renewal project, energy and utility sustainability was at its heart. The occupation of the historic Fir Hill Estate didn’t survive to be on-grid and the site has never been connected to mains services.
Nestled in the beautiful woodlands surrounding the Porth Reservoir, with stunning views and 62 acres of historic Estate to explore, this is a total escape from the pressures of 21st century living. Whilst we do provide access to a fast wifi connection, there are various onsite facilities at your disposal which will allow you to enjoy your stay at a slower, more relaxed pace whilst still enjoying the benefits of our amazing leisure areas and contemporary wet rooms.
After much research into the world of yurts, both online and through actual usage, we made the decision to go with a Mongolian style 'Gers' as the main accommodation for our guests at the Fir Hill.
Each of our yurts is made up of 5 material layers including a 12mm thick layer of 100% sheep wool felt, sourced from Mongolia, which keeps our guests warm in winter and cool in summer.
As well as comfort, providing our guests with as much space as possible was a priority. Our standard yurt has a diameter of 6.6m with floor space of 34.4m2. The side walls are 1.6m in height and the roof is up to 2.9m at it’s highest point. Most other glampsites in the UK use smaller yurts, but the extra diameter that we provide creates as much as an extra 8m2 of internal space!
Each yurt has its own personal cooking area with gas stove, cool box, running water for drinking and washing up, tea and coffee making facilities, food storage facilities as well as pots and pans.
