Read moreOur onsite bar and cafe, The Laughing Alpaca, serves an excellent selection of locally brewed beers and ciders, wines, cocktails, locally ground coffees, teas, soft drinks, ice cream and snacks. Once a stable for farm animals we have converted the space into a cosy, quirky and welcoming retreat for guests to relax and enjoy a drink. There is always a very warm welcome and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
Each party gets their own BBQ, utensils and a free supply of charcoal as well a picnic table. The communal firepit is set in the centre of the meadow and a good supply of logs is provided. A fully equipped shared kitchen is available for guests in The Meadow. Guests staying in the Safari Lodges have private kitchens, bathrooms and firepits.
Our "Wee hooses" are super cute separating and composting toilet cabins which save tens of thousands of litres of water every year. Each of our tents has its own solar panel and battery pack for lighting the tents after dark. Each daily solar charge will give many hours of light. All waste is recycled or turned into energy. We work with a "nothing to landfil" waste disposal contractor. Much of our glampsite furniture is upcylced from pallets and old scaffold boards.
There is very little guests need to bring other than food & drink and appropriate clothes and footwear. We have tried to make your glamping getaway as hassle free as possible by providing all bedding, linen and towels, crockery, cutlery, glassware, BBQ, charcoal, logs etc. While our duvets are very cosy, we do recommend something warm to sleep in just in case its a cold night.
Guests are welcome to swim in the lake or for the less adventurous, take out a pedalo! Guests young and old can meet and feed the alpacas and chickens or follow our fairy door trail. The surrounding countryside is fantastic for family cycling and walking with footpaths and public byways connecting to the farm meaning you can head straight out and avoid the main roads. The beautiful and historic cathedral city of Ely is just five miles away and the cathedral itself it an absolute must see.
