Established in April 2011, Forest Garden Shovelstrode, based in Ashurst Wood in Sussex, is offering two luxury yurts, with their own outdoor seating and barbeque area.

Both yurts are located in a woodland setting allowing guests to observe wildlife first hand and enter into a world of birdsong, peace and quiet.

The yurts are furnished in two different styles…

Yurt 1 [Kushti]

A traditional Mongolian yurt furnished with ethnic rugs, original Mongolian wall hangings, and Indian fabrics, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere.

This yurt can sleep a family of 6, including 1 small child, very comfortably.

Yurt 2 [Savannah]

A more spacious feeling with light flooding in from the large crown wheel, the yurt is furnished with sheepskin rugs, cream futons and animal print rugs and throws.

It is spacious and secluded with a large decked area outside where guests can really feel at one with nature.

It can sleep a family of five in comfort and style.

Both yurts are equipped with a log burning stove, a 2 ring gas stove and necessary cooking and eating facilities.

There is a shower block on site with butler sinks outside for washing up.

Forest Garden Shovelstrode also offers courses in woodland crafts such as basketry, green wood working, hurdle making and bee keeping to name but a few.

The first stages of a forest garden have been planted set around a wildlife pond.

Forest Garden Shovelstrode, although only an hour from London is located in the beautiful county of Sussex, close to the famous Ashdown Forest, home to AA Milne, creator of Winnie the Pooh.

Originally a deer hunting forest in Norman times, Ashdown Forest is now the largest free public access space in the South East.

Visits can be made to the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, Hever Castle and the famous spa town of Tunbridge Wells.
