The Cosy Under Canvas glamping site is situated in four acres of beautiful woodland and water meadow in the heart of the Welsh/English borders countryside, just a stone’s throw from the popular market town of Hay on Wye.
This tranquil tipi and dome glamping setting lends itself to a relaxed, alternative break away from the trappings of a hectic life. It is perfect for those who love the idea of a unique, low impact and environmentally friendly camping holiday with everything provided, plus a touch of luxury.
The three cosy Kata tipis are based on a traditional design but use 21st Century fabrics and construction techniques to provide a wind-resistant, sophisticated space that is easy to keep warm and homely, perfect for our climate!
Each tipi and the dome, sits on a wooden platform and comfortably sleeps four adults, two on a double futon bed and two on roll out futon mattresses.
The beds and futons are topped with luxurious, contemporary welsh blankets, cushions and throws and the floors are covered in rugs and sheepskins.
To complete the cosy camping experience all units have a stylish wood burning stove that can be stoked up to keep you toasty over night.
Getting back to basics and lighting a campfire is positively encouraged and you can cook on it or in the embers, have a BBQ or knock yourself something up on the camping stove in the shared deck kitchen.
There is a boys and girls compost loo and washroom in the woods and weather permitting a basic solar shower is provided with each tent unit. Alternatively pop up to the house and use the newly converted and more conventional wet room.
Fresh cold spring water is provided from a tap in the kitchen and washroom for drinking, washing, washing-up and cooking but there is no hot running water on the site.
Within a mile of the path that forms the border between England and Wales, close to Rosgoch Nature Reserve and adjacent to a footpath and bridleway, Cosy Under Canvas is an ideal retreat for those seeking a base for walking or exploring the area.
The unique market town of Hay on Wye with its mass of bookshops is only four miles away and the opportunities locally for outdoor activities are endless. They include hiking, walking, horse riding, trekking, canoeing, cycling, climbing, gliding and caving.
