Wild In Style offers glamping adventures in a choice of two fully equipped yurts, with plans to grow next year including other types of structures and different locations.

The two different designs of yurts are both individual in style and unique in the ambiance they provide.

The ‘traditional’ yurt, has steam bent walls and roof poles with an oak ring which has been bent to form the crown. This traditional style is viewed by some as a yurt at its most beautiful.

The other yurt uses bamboo, the properties of which are amazing and allow for a yurt different in both look and feel.

Each yurt can sleep up to five people within their spacious wooden floored interiors.

The yurts are stylishly furnished and feature woodburning stoves to give them that cosy ‘home from home’ feeling.

Gas cooking facilities and all crockery and cutlery are provided.

Other features include comfortable sofa beds, dining table and chairs, BBQ area with outside seating, and lockable doors.

Wray Castle can be seen from the campsite and is only a short walk away. You can see Lake Windermere from the yurts, and a beach with lake access is less than a minute away.

The Yurt is a spacious hand-made Turkish style Ger, made out of sweet chestnut, oak and willow positioned on a wooden platform.

A well-equipped kitchenette is located in the timber framed entrance, with kitchen sink, fridge, 4 ring gas hob and microwave.

The yurt has it’s own private decked area, with patio table and chairs and BBQ fire pit.

The timber-framed private bathroom is hidden away behind the yurt, surrounded by oak trees, with hot water heater for the shower and sink. Hairdryer provided.

The bathroom has an eco-friendly, composting dry toilet and waste water is filtered through reed beds. The bathroom is also a “hide” for birdwatching, with viewing directly into the forest.

Home-cooked meals made with the freshest local produce can be ordered from the owners for dining in the yurt.

A complimentary bottle of wine is provided with wine list available.

Fresh eggs and organic vegetables fresh from our garden are available to purchase, subject to availability.

Located close to the National Parks of the French Pyrenees, The Yurt is ideally located for a memorable hike in the mountains, or a picnic by a lake surrounded by stunning scenery.

The region has wonderful local markets to explore with the wine regions of Madiran, Saint Mont, Fronton and Armagnac all nearby.

There are famous Roman sites in the area such as Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges.

The prehistoric caves at nearby Gargas and Betharram are fascinating to visit with cave paintings from 27,000 years ago.

Secluded in its own paddock with views over mares, foals and lambs, the hut has only one ‘neighbour’, the yurt, a good distance away, which may also be rented independently or together with the shepherd’s hut.

Access is via a little woodland path, 50 yards from the farm entrance, a gentle stroll up a tiny lane, so you have no pollution or noise from any vehicles.

The hut has a separate shower unit with loo and washbasin nearby, just a short stroll away and lit by solar lights at night.

Yurt: Spacious and well equipped, this traditional Mongolian yurt is placed on a raised wooden platform with a veranda at the front where guests can relax on the lounge chairs and enjoy the sunsets.

Gypsy caravan: The first thing you see through the windows in the morning, when you wake up in the cosy double bed, is the splendid view over the Monchique mountains from this old-fashioned Dutch gypsy caravan.

Fire truck: Once upon a time, this German van was used as an ambulance for the fire brigade. It has since been transformed into a small camper with a kitchen and a sitting area that can be transformed into a double bed. A nice sleeping place for the kids next to the yurt or the gypsy van, or a kitchen with dining area in case you want to be completely independent at the yurt.

Camping: There is a limited opportunity for hikers and mountain-bikers to pitch up their tents for the night. They may then use the outside shower and the public toilet and, if they wish, make use of the breakfast service.

A small, open, straw bale building serves as a central area, where breakfast and dinner are served on request. Guests can savour a drink there, or simply lie in the hammock and enjoy the spectacular view.

Electricity is provided by sun and wind; water by our own source.

Toilets are ecological, the content of which ends up on the compost heap to later feed the organic vegetable garden.

We try to use environmentally friendly products wherever possible and separate all waste. We strongly encourage guests to do likewise.

Most of the furniture and other items have come from flea markets or second-hand shops from the area and have been given a second lease of life on our eco-lodge.
