Wild In Style offers glamping adventures in a choice of two fully equipped yurts, with plans to grow next year including other types of structures and different locations.

The two different designs of yurts are both individual in style and unique in the ambiance they provide.

The ‘traditional’ yurt, has steam bent walls and roof poles with an oak ring which has been bent to form the crown. This traditional style is viewed by some as a yurt at its most beautiful.

The other yurt uses bamboo, the properties of which are amazing and allow for a yurt different in both look and feel.

Each yurt can sleep up to five people within their spacious wooden floored interiors.

The yurts are stylishly furnished and feature woodburning stoves to give them that cosy ‘home from home’ feeling.

Gas cooking facilities and all crockery and cutlery are provided.

Other features include comfortable sofa beds, dining table and chairs, BBQ area with outside seating, and lockable doors.

Wray Castle can be seen from the campsite and is only a short walk away. You can see Lake Windermere from the yurts, and a beach with lake access is less than a minute away.

The location is excellent for hiking in the mountains, bird watching, star-gazing, Thalasso Spas, cycling, or simply relaxing.

The Yurt is a spacious hand-made Turkish style Ger, made out of sweet chestnut, oak and willow positioned on a wooden platform.

A well-equipped kitchenette is located in the timber framed entrance, with kitchen sink, fridge, 4 ring gas hob and microwave.

The yurt has it’s own private decked area, with patio table and chairs and BBQ fire pit.

The timber-framed private bathroom is hidden away behind the yurt, surrounded by oak trees, with hot water heater for the shower and sink. Hairdryer provided.

The bathroom has an eco-friendly, composting dry toilet and waste water is filtered through reed beds. The bathroom is also a “hide” for birdwatching, with viewing directly into the forest.

Home-cooked meals made with the freshest local produce can be ordered from the owners for dining in the yurt.

A complimentary bottle of wine is provided with wine list available.

Fresh eggs and organic vegetables fresh from our garden are available to purchase, subject to availability.

Located close to the National Parks of the French Pyrenees, The Yurt is ideally located for a memorable hike in the mountains, or a picnic by a lake surrounded by stunning scenery.

The region has wonderful local markets to explore with the wine regions of Madiran, Saint Mont, Fronton and Armagnac all nearby.

There are famous Roman sites in the area such as Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges.

The prehistoric caves at nearby Gargas and Betharram are fascinating to visit with cave paintings from 27,000 years ago.

We use solar power for all our electricity needs and have a unique compost toilet with an amazing view over the lake.

Opposite the compost toilet, on our sunniest terrace, you will find the solar hot water shower.

The shower will provide enough hot water for 2 people for about 10 minutes each, however the temperature of the water in the solar shower is of course dependent on the sun.

Surrounded by nature in secluded and beautiful gardens, with all the luxuries of a modern suite, the eco-retreat is landscaped with tropical plants, palms, fruit trees, vines and pathways.

Bamboo showers are provided, using water collected from the local mountain spring and heated naturally by the sun. These showers can reach up to 42 degrees providing lovely hot water.

A limited amount of eco-friendly products are available but guests are asked to kindly try and bring their own eco products wherever possible.

The compost toilets are built to a high standard with some artistic flair, and use no water. Fresh pine sawdust is used to eliminate odours.

This is an extremely environmentally friendly toilet which saves thousands of litres of water every year.

On the terrace above the tents is an Al Fresco eating area, with a BBQ and seating area, and a fantastic view of the mountains.

The dining area is covered with a sail canopy enabling you to escape the powerful sun’s rays and enjoy your meal.

BBQ utensils are provided along with a washing up area, where grey water is collected from the sinks and used to water the plants and flowers.

The yurts are a modern version of the traditional Mongolian yurt, but adjusted to suit the northern European climate.

Each yurt can sleep 4 people, with 2 beds on the first floor, and 2 beds on the ground floor.
