Description of Vintage Glamping

Our 3 vintage wagons at Penrhiwgaled Farm, Cross Inn are all over 70 years old and have many original features.

The Showman’s Home has 3 rooms, comprising of a bedroom, living room with woodburner, kitchen opening onto raised decking area with great views.

Betsey Trotwood, the old tram was converted into a holiday home in the 1930s, and is full of character. Her design provides 2 outside covered areas for sitting.

The Gypsy Wagon has all the original features making it very atmospheric, but compact. The raised bed is small, with another sleeping compartment below.

This has no electicity and is equipped with camping gas stove to be used outside. The original stove can be used (wood burning).

This is an opportunity to experience “Romany” living quarters.

The site has beautiful views over farmland and woods to the hills beyond.

It is a picturesque smallholding which is home to 2 water buffalo which can often be seen relaxing in the fields and lake.

We are just 2 miles from the coastal town of New Quay with its famous dolphins and beaches.

Vintage Glamping combines the experience of living in one of these wonderful wagons from a bygone age with some modern comforts.

Each one has their own private shower room with WC and washandbasin.

Stay in our historic wagons at Penrhiwgaled and enjoy a unique experience.

There are BBQs and firepits available to use. The site is a kept mown and the quiet lane offers a picturesque route to New Quay.

This particular wagon is thought to date back to around 1910. All the original features have been kept in this wagon, and it must be emphasized that the raised bed is only 3′ 2″ wide and 5’10” long.

However there is also an additional sleeping area below which provides extra sleeping space for guests.

The wagon has no electricity, just a battery light, and is equipped with a camping gas stove and basic utensils.

Communal Areas

  • Washing Up

There is a large outside sink with drainer for all the wagons to use with constant hot water.

The Showman and Betsey (tram) have sinks in them but any large item can be washed outside.

The Gypsy wagon uses this outside sink for their washing up, there isn't a sink in that wagon.

Shared Amenities

  • Wi-Fi

Grass area which is kept mown on which the wagons are sited. The site is "shared" but each wagon has its own picnic table beside it.

A torch is useful, as the showers/toilet block is a short distance from the wagons although the shower/toilet block is lit at night.
