“A unique yurt and shepherd's hut glamping experience in the wild and expansive forests of north-eastern Scotland.”

Description of Woodlands Rest

Picture a place where it feels like time’s standing still. Imagine yourself being there, in your own romantic and cosy shepherd’s hut. Or while away the days in an authentic, spacious yurt.

Situated among thousands of beech and ancient oak, birch and pine trees, Woodlands Rest is the perfect place to unwind and relax.

Enjoy a totally unique glamping getaway, with the freedom offered by 25 acres of natural woodland.

Whichever of the beautiful and stylishly furnished units you choose, get ready for true holiday comfort.

Both units offer spacious, self-contained and fully equipped camping luxury.

A wood-burning stove, candles and low-voltage lights complete the serene ambiance offered by the once-in-a-lifetime experience of a holiday in the forests of north-eastern Scotland.

The well-equipped kitchenettes with gas hob and oven, in addition to outdoor areas with barbeque facilities and fire pits, mean meals are easy and quick to prepare.

The private bathrooms are environmentally friendly, with a 12v shower and a compost or chemical toilet.

Your glamping unit is serviced and cleaned daily. Breakfast, picnic hampers and other home-cooked meals are available on request.

The privately owned woodland is known to be the home of deer, red squirrel, badger and fox. It forms part of thousands of acres of indigenous and amenity woodlands, where you’re free to roam and enjoy the rich natural wildlife.

The nearest pub is a half a mile’s walk. Shops and everything offered by city life – numerous bars and restaurants, boutiques and supermarkets – are about a mile away.

Woodlands Rest, in Aldroughty Woods, is conveniently situated on the main bus and train routes between Aberdeen and Inverness.

The bus service that takes you in a few minutes to the world-renowned Findhorn Foundation, situated in the beautiful coastal village of Findhorn, is almost door-to-door.

Moray boasts a rugged beauty and a rich history, with numerous attractions, including castles and various top-quality museums, on your doorstep.

For the perfect outdoor experience – and since Scotland is synonymous with both fly-fishing and golf – there are several top golf clubs and links courses to choose from in the immediate area.

Try your hand at fly-fishing while trying to spot an osprey.

Sea-fishing and dolphin spotting, as well as the famous white, outstretched beaches and picturesque fishing villages offered by the Moray Firth, are five minutes away to the north.

Specially built cycling trails and tailor-made hiking paths are found all over Moray, and the Cairngorms National Park is less than an hour away to the south.

There are malt whisky distilleries open to visitors in every direction, and the Highlands and Islands are within reach by car.

Airports and car hire, as well as regular train services, are available from both Inverness to the west and Aberdeen to the east.
