Description of The Dome Garden
The Dome Garden is a group of luxurious, ecologically sound, geodesic domes set in a peaceful garden in the heart of Gloucestershire’s ancient Forest of Dean.
These eco-domes are spacious self-contained units up to 24ft in diameter set on their own timber decks with a small forest kitchen and you need for a cool glamping extravaganza.
Inside, there are wood burning stoves, proper beds with lovely crisp white linen and a private ensuite with flushing loo and a shower or, in a few cases, bath.
Hot water comes from a little wood burning boiler and is stored in recycled whisky barrels above each shower.
For food there are two choices. Self cater in the outdoor kitchens or if that’s what you do all week let us take the strain in the Rocket bar and cafe.
Amazing breakfasts, delicious Sunday lunch and our world class pizzas from the pizza oven – possibly the only one in the world with two doors!
Off site there is a host of activities just around the corner.
Right next door is the amazing Sallowvallets off-road mountain biking area 20 miles of tracks of different grades from family circuits to adrenalin pumping downhill single tracks – and beyond that 35 square miles of ancient forest leading down to the River Wye.
So there’s loads to do and tons to see within just a couple of miles; canoeing, hiking and Llama trekking for the active, caves and castles, trains and teashops for everyone else.

Simple elegant structures, insulated against both heat and cold, heated by wood burners of different sorts with 4 super comfy beds, great linen and fabulous ensuites.
But this year there are other versions too - tiny semi sunken hobbit style solid domes for 2, the domitories with swinging cocoons beds, a double dome with a separate sleeping area for the kids and a giant Superdome for couple of cosy families or a gang of mountain bikers.
Other Accommodation at The Dome Garden
Really new for 2014 are the Hobbity Domes...
Semi sunken solid domes that Gandalf would have been proud of - or was that Bilbo? - anyway each one is set into the ground, heated with wood burners and insulated by straw bales.
Outside a little heated grotto that conceals a private ensuite with a hot shower and a flushing loo.
Much smaller than our other domes, the Hobbity Domes are much cosier and just perfect for 2.
- Washing Up
For those who have come to get away from the routine of providing food for a busy family there are random acts of casual gastronomy performed off and on throughout the week in our little cafe and bar.
World class pizzas, flame grilled sous vide joints of sirloin and amazing organic breakfasts.
- Children's Play Area
- Herb Garden
All the domes have everything you need for a great self-contained holiday.
There's also the option to eat and drink in the cafe or bar, to play on ropes and zip wires and meet like minded people.
It's all part of the sense of community that adds a bit of magic to the Dome Garden experience.
What to bring?
- Basic Provisions
